in the spirit of our classic diy zine ancestors, we aim to be a chill lofi zine event that encourages the simple sheer joy of creation. sketch a little something. write 30 pages of fic. write a drabble. write an essay of peak sword yurism. design a marriage certificate. design a breakup certificate. edit screenshots into a mary oliver punk collage of feelings. and of course, traditional zine submissions are welcome! as long as what you create brings you dimilix yuri joy.this zine event has no prompts—just a template for your work, so we can put together the greatest dimilix yuri diy zine this town has ever seen.happy yuri summer, let's get dimilixing!!!

do it mostly yourself
you make a dimilix yuri. we gather it all into a little diy zine. then we all print it out and try to bookbind it together with varying degrees of very cool and excellent success.basic templates can be found here!

zine specs

  • approx. 5.5" x 8.5" final dimensions

  • can be printed on standard letter printer paper

  • 18+ (sfw and nsfw works accepted)

  • black&white, with optional colour

  • available in sections that can be folded and assembled by long stapler, saddle stitching, hole puncher and string, or other less or more cursed zine binding methods

so here's the deal
one sheet of standard printer paper (letter size) will give you a total of four pages; one side of that sheet is a 2-page spread; one side of that sheet folded in half is a single page.you will be creating to these page sizes and also assembling your own zine by stacking sheets, folding them, and binding them together. and then you print out and assemble all everybody else's sections to yours and now you are holding a big beautiful dimilix yuri diy zine in your proud paws (human neutral).there are no work limits, just dimilix yuri <3

Examples of how the zine is assembled. A letter-sized page is shown as a 2-page double spread; half a letter-sized page is shown as a single page. A section of letter-sized pages is also shown stacked together as an option of how to assemble your zine.

writers
must format their own fic! you will have a cryptid formatting assistant available to help you, but we highly encourage you to add your own special touch in this way too. and yes, you can force us to accept your fic that looks like a notes apology.here are some basic formatting guidelines:

  • set page size to statement size (5.5" x 8.5")

  • all margins should be approx. 0.5"

  • font size 9-11 pts (depending on font)

  • include a header in your fic with your title and your name!

  • don’t worry if you’re turning in a billion pages, it's all food for the dimilix community

  • if you're using gdocs, page size and margins can be changed under file > page setup)

artists
these specs are more like goals. ideals, if you will. hope for the best, etc, etc.

  • single page: 5.5" x 8.5"

  • 2-page spread: 11" x 8.5"

  • gutter safety margin: approx. 0.5"

  • colour art will not be converted to grayscale, but please check that you are satisfied with how it looks in grayscale

  • 300 DPI

  • download templates here

please note there is no true bleed because standard printers can't print to the edge of the paper. the zine will be formatted with a standard white margin (or otherwise upon request).
